What are the chances of this happening? I was getting ready to write my Top 10 Tuesdays feature for this week on the title, when the email for Tuesday’s writing prompt pops up on my screen. And what did that email ask of me? Well, here it is, read for yourself!

Today, write your own list on one of these topics:

  • Things I Like
  • Things I’ve Learned
  • Things I Wish

Reading the email brought a big smile to my face, because this meant that I could combine my post for the writing prompt as well as my weekly feature! Yaaayyy!!

Without deviating from the subject of discussion, let me tell you that there are a number of things that I would like to stop doing like now! Trust me, it was an extremely challenging task for me to limit this list to just 10. So, without any further ado, here is my list of Top 10 things I wish I could stop doing like NOW!

  1. I wish I could stop procrastinating!

Whenever there is something that I have to do and it makes me nervous, I procrastinate until the very last moment when I have no choice but to do it. Once it is done I wonder why I wasted time procrastinating when I could have finished the task sooner! Every time I delay doing something, I promise myself that next time I am not going to procrastinate. But then I do it all over again. How long did I procrastinate writing this post, don’t even get me started on that!

  1. I wish I could stop being so complacent!

Yes, I said it. I always ask for opinions and advice. Nothing wrong with that, you say? Well, it becomes a problem when you start taking every advice and every opinion. That becomes expensive for your own thoughts.

  1. I wish I could stop being a perfectionist!

I need perfection in everything, it just has to be perfect. If not, it is going to bother me for time immemorial. Why do I need perfection? I am thinking because of the approval it brings from everyone!

  1. I wish I could stop being afraid of taking risks!

I am afraid of making mistakes which makes me afraid of taking risks. This means that I impede my own growth and miss out on new experiences and adventures.

  1. I wish I could stop taking everything personally!

I need to stop taking everything personally. Every time someone talks about ‘someone’ they know who did something weird/funny/stupid/whatever you can think of, I start pondering over it thinking if it is me that they were referring to! When will I get it that it is not always about me!?!

  1. I wish I could stop rejecting new relationships because one didn’t work!

Yes, true. I keep rejecting every opportunity for a new relationship because of my previous experience. My family has probably given up trying to change that about me by now.

  1. I wish I could stop putting myself on the back burner!

“Oh yea, of course! No problem, I can always do that later!” I always have something else more important to do than my own needs. Be it spending some money on a great hair style or investing in myself, there is always something else that deserves my time, attention and money than me!

  1. I wish I could stop explaining myself so much!

I hate offending people, which is why every time I have to turn down an invitation, or say no to something, I feel the need the explain myself. I tend to explain in detail about why I am doing what I am doing. Sometimes, I think why I do that?

  1. I wish I could stop thinking I am not ready!

Are you ready to become a writer? No, I am not yet ready, I need more time. Are you ready to start writing your first book? Oh no….I am never ready for that!

  1. I wish I could stop worrying so much about all of the above!

That’s right! I hear yea…I know I am over thinking. Which is why, I wish I could just stop worrying about all of the above and take each day as it comes!

Hopefully soon enough I will be successful in stopping myself from doing this list of things! What are the things you wish you could stop doing? Let me know!
