Top 10 Life Goals for Happiness!
A few days back I shared an image on my Instagram and Facebook page, this image and a few recent incidents from my life got me thinking of my life goals. I wouldn’t be entirely honest if I said that I have set life goals or even if I said that I didn’t have any life goals.
I do have goals, but materialistic ones like buying a house, saving up for my son’s college, moving up the career ladder and retiring with a comfortable balance in my bank account. Even though materialistic goals are important for us to live, come to think of it, is that all that matters? What about happiness? What about that inner satisfaction of having done all that you have always wanted to?
That thought is what prompted me to look at my goals from a different perspective and write down this list of my Top 10 Life Goals, the kind of goals aimed at happiness!
- Become the
Perfect Mother! Be a real, happy and reliable mother to my son!
- Make my parents proud of
how much I earn! Give an opportunity to my parents to be proud of how happy I am!
- Retire with a
big bank balance! Retire from life with lots and lots of precious memories!
a big house! Build a comfortable and beautiful home full of dreams!
- Fall in love with
someone compatible to my needs! Fall in love with the inner beauty of the person.
- Get married
before I turn 35! Get married If and When I am ready!

with someone special! Travel the world alone or with family – doesn’t matter, just travel!

Corporate Ladder! Work my way up efficiently with hard work!
many new friends! Be a best friend to all my friends first!
- Experience the
many luxuries of life! Find and experience the happiness even in the simple things in life!

Really liked your post. Got me really thinking about what is enough and how expectations stops you from enjoying the here and now. Look forward to reading more post. Take care Cally.
Thank you Cally! I’m glad you enjoyed this post 🙂
Loved this. At the moment and after a stressful year last year I feel like I’n going with the flow a bit. Your post did get me thinking though, maybe it’s time I set myself some personal goals.
Sometimes it’s good to go with the flow especially after a stressful year. However, keeping certain goals works towards ridding is of that stress too. Good luck to you 🙂
Thank you, I agree.
This is a beautiful post. We should all try to think and live this way
Thank you Brenda! 🙂
How do you retire from life ( #3 )?
Well, that’s a metaphor to say that as long as you live hoard on those precious memories 🙂
Thank you Nicodemas 🙂
Your life goals are realistic,I like them all. We need to be materialistic to achieve our goals to a certain point, but we need not be consumed by it. I’m certain your parents are already proud of you. I’m positive you will go up the ladder. I loved reading your goals in life.Best wishes to you, Rashmi. 🙂
Thank you so much Ranu! I agree that materialistic goals are required to a certain point for us to live or maintain ourselves.
Thank you for the kind words. Best wishes to you too! 🙂
I am loving this!! Reframing our mindset is how we can attain true inner peace and happiness because it is the only real thing we have control over.
Absolutely! Couldn’t agree more! Thank you for reading, Nena 🙂

I definitely like your revised goals. I’m not going to say that money’s not important, because to a point it is. But after we reach about middle class status (meaning our basic needs are taken care of), obtaining more wealth does not lead to an equivalent increase in happiness. So far better to focus on living a life that brings you inner peace, in my opinion.
Absolutely! I agree with you on that. There is only so much joy that materialistic things can bring, true joy comes with inner peace and inner peace comes from doing what one actually wants to do!
Thank you for reading. 🙂
Beautiful 🙂 I think I have a few more years on you and believe me inner peace is a must have for happiness 🙂 luv and hugs
Thank you Mandy! I agree that true joy comes from inner peace and that inner peace comes from doing what one truly wants to do in life!
Thank you for reading 🙂

I love creating goals each year for each area in my life, body, mind and spirit. Writing them down and keeping them in front of you, day dreaming about them, helps you reach your goals. I love how you reframed yours. It’s all about how we think and talk about things. Putting effort into thinking differently is hard so it’s easy to go back to what we are use to saying. Great post! Thank you. Love and hugs:)
Thank you, Susan! Creating goals for each area is indeed a good idea. Goals are what drives us, so it’s best when we have it written down in front of us.
Glad you enjoyed the post! Love and hugs to you too! 🙂
What a great post! I am all for goals, but really love how you moved away from material things. Because, unless we follow our passion and find our purpose I don’t think we are every really happy.
Your corrected goals are what we all need today. Finding inner peace and happiness and not materialistic madness. I sincerly wish all your wishes get fulfilled.
Thank you so much, Megha! 🙂
