Top 10 Movies of 2016 I Can't Wait For!
I love watching movies and like many people I look forward to the big releases for the year. I am a huge fan of sci-fi movies, period dramas, fantasy and animated movies. The year 2016 looks good for movie lovers, especially from the aforementioned genres. So, for this week’s Top 10 feature, I decided to churn out a list of the Top 10 movies that I am anxiously waiting for in 2016.
Instead of going on and on about why I am waiting to watch these movies, I will go ahead and post the trailers here so you can watch for yourself and enjoy! Trust me, whenever these movies release, you want to be in a movie theater!
P.S: This list is in random order!
- Captain America Civil War
It’s Captain America people, need I say more? Who doesn’t love Captain America? Being a huge Marvel fan, this one had to be on top of my list. Set for release on May 6, 2016, the trailer promises it’s going to be a blockbuster. Check out the trailer and see for yourself.
- Independence Day Resurgence
I was a child when I watched Independence Day (the first part) and I fell in love with Bill Pullman and Will Smith – yes both of them! It was my favorite movie for the longest time, so I am a little more than excited when I heard a sequel was in the works. The trailer had me standing up and yelling out in excitement (much to my mother’s embarrassment) at the movies – yep that’s how excited I was! Sadly, the second part does not star Will Smith – but that’s OK, I am still anxiously waiting for the release on June 24, 2016.
- The Jungle Book
Disney has done it again and this time it is with The Jungle Book. Oh, I loved Mowgli and all the characters from The Jungle Book. And this trailer just makes me love them all the more. The trailer actually gave me goosebumps! Why does the release of April 15, 2016 seem so far away? 😀
- X-Men Apocalypse
X-Men, mutants, apocalypse – who wouldn’t want to watch it? The trailer felt a little weak as compared to the last two X-Men movies. I loved the last two, so I am definitely going to watch it because of that and also because of my son who is a die-hard X-Men fan! This one is set for release on May 27, 2016.
- The Divergent Series: Allegiant
Been a huge fan of the books, the last 2 movies and Shailene Woodley so it’s obvious I am waiting for this one. Guess who is a bigger fan of the movies, yep that’s right – my son! I see an inclination for sci-fi/fantasy movies for him. Not surprised though! We are both waiting for March 18, 2016 to hit the movies for this one!
- Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
A face-off between the greatest heroes in the world? Oh yea! It is Superman all the way for me. My son is torn between his love for Batman and Superman, although I see a slight inclination towards Superman. March 25, 2016 where art thou??
- Ice Age: Collision Course
Both my son and I are huge fans of the Ice Age series. Needless to say, we have been patiently waiting for the next part of the series ever since we watched Ice Age: Continental Drift. The movie is set for release on July 22, 2016.
- Gods of Egypt
I love a good fantasy flick, add history to it and you have me sold. The trailer of this movie looked so good that I knew I would hit the movie theater for this one! And I don’t have to wait for too long as this one is set for release on February 26, 2016. Check out the trailer, you will love it!
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
I grew up watching the crime fighting turtles Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo, so I was very excited when the first Teenage Mutant movie came out in 2014, obviously a sequel to the 2014 movie is most welcome. A nationwide release is expected on June 3, 2016.
- The conjuring 2: The Endfield Experiement
I do not usually get too scared of horror movies, gaahh, who am I kidding, I do get scared of horror movies, and some of them freak me out. After watching The Conjuring (first part) I think I didn’t sleep properly for a month. And from the looks of this trailer I think I will not be able to sleep for another month or two after June 10, 2016. I may even shift to my son’s room for a month after watching this one! 😛
What about you? Do you enjoy watching movies? Any favorites so far? Are you particularly waiting for any movie this year? Let me know!
There are some good movies here I’d like to watch with my son; Jungle Book, Ice Age and I don’t mind a good horror flick. I also like action movies, the new Jason Bourne one looks good.
Yep…Jason Bourne looks good too! Jungle book and ice age will be fun watch for you with your son! Enjoy
I’m looking forward to “Me Before You”. I saw the trailer and started sobbing. The book was a two-box-of-tissues tearjerker. Looks like I’ll be sobbing through the movie!
I have added the book to my to read list so I will wait until the dvd release of that movie coz I want to read the book before watching the movie, same with the 5th wave! 🙂
I’m hoping to watch the trailers and will decide which ones I’d like to watch. Rashmi thank you. 🙂
Your welcome! Enjoy the trailers, Ranu and let me know if you liked any! 🙂
Wow, so cool! Allegiant is the one I want see!
Good choice! 🙂
Dr Meg Sorick
Captain America! And Batman vs Superman! Love me some Henry Cavill!
Ha! I knew those would be your choice! 😀
Why no Will Smith! :'( I can still hear him from the first part… “I’m going.. I’m going… .I’m going”
But nevertheless, must watch it is. Thanks for this very interesting list, Ra. 🙂
I know right! Apparently Will Smith had already signed After Earth and didn’t want to do back to back sci-fi movies, so they had to kill off his character! Too bad!! 🙁
Oh, didn’t know this. Ok! Yup, too bad, indeed!
He should’ve just done them both….Stars. ..!!
Agree! 😀 😀
Captain America! 😄
Marvel all the way! 😀
awesome….am more of animations first then the rest follow..so mutant turtles, ice age all in.
That’s awesome! Some really good animation movies coming out this year, enjoy 🙂
Thank you Rashmi, I just finished watching all the trailers. I’m curious about: 1.Jungle Book
2. Ice Age and 3. Gods of Egypt. These are the ones I’d like to watch. 🙂
Good choice, Ranu! I am sure you will enjoy watching them 🙂
All my friends are excited for Dawn Of Justice.. Though I’m not a fan of sci-fi, they’ll surely drag me with them..! I’ll enjoy it..! I’m too scared to watch horror movies.. Like you said, my sleeping pattern goes completely haywire..
By the way, I nominated you for the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge.. Do have a look at it when you find the time..! Happy movie-watching..!
I do hope you like it! Horror movies freak me out but I still love to watch them. I don’t know why? 😀
Thank you for the nomination, I will definitely take up on your challenge! 🙂
Yes..! I do have that sort of curiosity to watch a horror movie..! ‘Insidious’ really creeped me out :p.. Glad to know you accepted the challenge..!
Insidious was really creepy, but the second part was a let down.
Thank you for sharing this. I am a big movie goer. It was a delicious read for my. I will be watching most of these as well. Not too excited about Batman vs Superman. As a kid I bought plenty of comics, never thought they should fight. Alos, not a big fan of BenaAffleck as Batman. Now, if it were Christian Bale. Thanks for sharing.
I am intrigued about the cause of their fight. I am not that big a fan of Batman, so I don’t mind them fighting so long as Superman wins. 😀
