Top 10 Most Awesome Songs from 80's and 90's
I was born in the 80’s and grew up in the 90’s, so obviously I grew up listening to some awesome music and watching totally brilliant music videos. The last week, while I was visiting my parents, I went through my Dadβs collection of music, and ended up listening to some really great songs again and again and again!
The nostalgia of having listened to some of my favorite songs from that era made me want to create this list of Top 10 Songs from the 80’s and 90’s. These are my personal favorites from the golden era of music. I doubt if such good music even exists now! Not trying to debase the music or the pop stars of this age, but seriously nothing beats the music from then.
So, for your enjoyment, here are the top 10 of my all-time favorite songs/music videos.
- Thriller β Michael Jackson (1983)
This one had to top my list βcoz this is my all-time favorite song and music video ever! I was only a couple of months old when this song was released, my mom always tells how I used to get excited every time this song came on the radio and my Dad danced with me! Yep, been a Michael Jackson fan since then!
- Every Breath You Take β The Police (1983)
As creepy as the lyrics may sound now, the song and that voice still has me moving! Stingβs earnest ode to creepy obsessive love was beautifully captured in this eerie black and white video!
- Papa Donβt Preach β Madonna (1986)
Another one of my all-time songs, much to my Papaβs chagrin π He was never a Madonna fan butΒ I absolutely loved her!
- November Rain β Guns N Roses (1991)
A wedding, a funeral, a power packed performance all rolled into one amazing video, only Guns N Roses can pull off a music video of this intensity.
- Summer of 69 β Bryan Adams (1985)
Bryan Adams is coming to Virginia and I am definitely going for this concert! Now, if only September came a little sooner. I love almost all his songs, but I am going just for the βSummer of 69β and βEverything I Doβ π
- Careless Whisper β George Michael (1984)
Anyone who is a hopeless romantic like I am will surely fall in love with this song! And that video, wowβ¦just look at him! *drool*
- Wake Me Up Before You Go Go β Wham! (1984)
This was not only on an awesome song by this duo, the all-white video is simply awesome. And of course, it gave us George Michael! π
- Hit Me Baby One More Time β Britney Spears (1998)
You have got to agree with me when I say that the song and music video that launched Britney Spears was abso-fricking-lutely awesome! I was in love with this song for the longest time!
- That Donβt Impress Me Much – Shania Twain (1998)
This song was released when I had just turned abut 15 and I was in the βrebelβ mode and nothing in this world impressed me! I think the sarcasm in the song and video is what I loved the most! π Of course, this was one of the songs on repeat in my playlist!
- Who Do You Think You Are β Spice Girls (1996)
Come on, itβs girl power! The anthem my girls and I went by in Middle School! And just for that, this song has to be part of my list! π
I hope you enjoyed my list of songs from the 80’s and 90’s. What about you, have any favorites? Share them in the comments, I would love to know!

Oh man. All the songs now running through my head. I have so many vivid memories from MTV. Remember the Whitesnake Here I Go Again video? When I hear a song from that era, videos run through my head. The younger generations are so deprived.

Oh yes, of course I remember Whitesnake, another one on my favs list. This generation do not have music as good as we did!

This is great!! I was born in 1984 so I am loving all the songs you posted. I was into 80s Rock and 90s R&B! I was a big fan of Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men so when they collaborated for the song, “One Sweet Day” it was instantly a favorite!
MindandLifeMatters
Oh of course, Mariah Carey was one of the top artists from the 90s. I also liked Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, Savage Garden…..wow…so many to the list! π

Thank you for the songs, I liked Michael Jackson’s, Thriller, he was so talented. I couldn’t watch all of them, as I’m racing against time to finish my book #19, ” To kill A mocking Bird.”
It’s nice of you to treat us to this medley of songs. π
MindandLifeMatters
Glad you enjoyed them. I’m reading the same book now. But taking the reading slow as I’m also working on my novel. To kill a mockingbird is my book # 12 for the challenge π
ranu802
It’s fun this reading challenge. I don’t think I’d read so many books, had I not entered the challenge. Some of the books I finished was all because of this challenge, thank you for mentioning it. My next book is one written by my favourite writer Rabindranath Tagore. Thank you for your comment. π

That is really great! Enjoy the challenge! Would love to hear your views about the next book you are reading too! π

George Michael – YES. Britney Spears and Shania Twain – yes yes! I was totally with you on this list until I got to #10. For some reason I HATED the Spice Girls as a kid and rebelled against them. I guess I still kinda have those feelings about them haha.
But the rest of the list is pure musical excellence!
MindandLifeMatters
Hahaha….I actually know a lot of people who hated spice girls. I guess I liked them because they were one of the very few successful girl bands! π
amanda (Just in Queso)
I want to like them for that very reason, but I just…can’t. Haha
MindandLifeMatters
Ohh LOL….I hear ye! π

I was born in the 90’s and to me the music industry was at it’s strongest back then! I hope it gets back to that one day. lovemykindamusic.wordpress.com

Laura
I think the digital age has ruined the industry tbh, especially streaming π
